Hey, dog lovers! 🐾
If you’re like me, you LOVE almost everything about your dog... but maybe not the doggy smell that may be around their favorite cozy spot – the dog bed. It’s like a weird combo of wet fur, dirt, and just plain dogginess that never seems to go away! So, if you’ve been wondering how to make that smell disappear, I’ve got some super easy tips that’ll have your dog’s bed smelling fresh in no time.
Step 1: Wash It Up!
Sounds obvious, right? But the key here is doing it the right way. If the cover is removable – a lot of dog beds have covers that can be thrown right into the washing machine – it needs to be washed. TIP: use a pet-safe detergent. Regular detergents can be too harsh and leave behind strong scents, which your dog might not appreciate. Plus, some of those fragrances can irritate their sensitive noses! Stick with something mild and formulated for pets, and you’ll be good to go. If your dog bed is super stinky (we’ve all been there!), toss in a bit of baking soda when you wash it. It’s magic for neutralizing odors!
Oh, and don’t forget the bed itself! If you can, give the inner cushion or foam a good scrub or at least air it out in the sun. Sunlight is an amazing natural deodorizer. Who knew? If your dog’s bed isn’t machine washable, no worries – you can spot clean it and proceed to Step 2.
Step 2: Keep It Fresh
Now that the bed is clean and odor free, you’re going to want to keep it that way for as long as possible. My favorite trick? PawSheets® – the game changer in dog bed maintenance. A couple times a week, you can give the bed a quick vacuum to suck up hair, dirt, and anything else on it. And once a week, pop off the sheet, wash and dry it, and put it back on. You can use a blanket or towel, but they rarely stay put.
Bonus Tip: Freshen It Up Naturally
If you’re into natural solutions, try spritzing the dog bed with an all-natural, safe order killer. I use DEODORATOR which does not have any fragrances or leave a residue.

All I do is lightly mist the bed. It also works great to eliminate pet odors from rugs, furniture, car seats, dog beds, pillows, blankets - almost any surface. The process mimics Mother Nature and breaks down the odor causing agents. No harsh chemicals or residue and made in the USA.

And there you have it! Two easy steps to banish that dog bed odor for good. Your dog will be happy, and so will your nose. 🐶💚
